Joanne Montgomery Burr, 81, of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Born in Hackensack, NJ, to the late Audrey and Elbert Burr, she was educated as a teacher and worked for a time in the Fishers Island School. Joanne was also the proprietor of the Gold n’ Silver Shop on Fishers Island for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2019.

Joanne died after a short illness at the Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, NJ. She is survived by her son, James-Michael Burr, and daughter-in-law Clodagh Rooney. She is the dear sister of Elbert Burr, Grace Burr Hawkins, and the late Bette Burr.  

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 27, 2024, in Costa Funeral Home, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.
