Elizabeth HastingsMatas, Maxine - Obituary Obituary for Maxine Matas Elizabeth "Maxine" Matas (1926-2006) Elizabeth "Maxine" Matas, 79, formerly of 903 S. Ottercreek St., Streator died at 7:20 PM Saturday (June 24, 2006) at Heritage Manor in Streator. A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The Rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen's Church, Streator. Rev. Eugene Radosevich will officiate. Music will be provided by soloists Carolyn Blasco accompanied on the organ by Sharon Hatzer. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Clayton Jr., A.J. Matas, Crystal Matas, Greg Matas, Andy Matas and Pat Hastings. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.solonbakertelford.com. She was born November 3, 1926 in Munster, Illinois to Samuel and Elizabeth (Gass) Hastings. She married Andrew T. Matas on January 9, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator. He died January 19, 1978. She is survived by two daughters: Patricia (Kevin) Clayton of Streator and Andrea Matas of Streator; two sons: Andy (Lisa) Matas of Streator and Greg Matas of Streator; 9 grandchildren: Kevin Clayton Jr., A.J. Matas, Crystal Matas, Lisa Powers, Sherry DePaz, Laura Eutsey, Cassie Matas, Carly Matas and Nicole Matas; 8 great grandchildren and one brother, Donald (Diana) Hastings of Plano, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Edward Hastings, Ben Hastings and Joseph Malone; sisters: Nellie Warner and Hazel. She resided in Streator most of her life and had worked at Hills Brothers, Super Dairy and Schmoeger Brothers Confectionery. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church and its Altar & Rosary Society.
