Steven Mayerchin
1910 --- 1986
Steven J. Mayerchin, 75, of 1401 N. Wasson St., died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Church.
Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Winterrowd Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Born Dec. 12, 1910, in Streator, he was the son of Andrew and Mary (Soltis) Mayerchin. He married Margaret Sauers on March 31, 1932, in Streator. She died in 1973.
Surviving are one son, Gary Mayerchin, of Peru; three daughters, Marlene (Mrs. Richard) Adams of Streator, Sandra (Mrs. Ronald) Shirley of Ashland, Ky., and Deborah (Mrs. Michael) Cassidy of DeKalb; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters Mary Ann (Mrs. Dale) Spencer of Streator and Leona (Mrs. Richard) Murillo of California; two brothers, Alvin Mayerchin of Oswego and Edward Mayor* of Western Springs, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Ervin, and one granddaughter.
Mayerchin was employed by Owens-Illinois Glass Company for nearly 50 years, retiring in 1975. A lifetime Streator resident, he was a member of St. Anthony Church, Golden Emblem Club of Owens-Illinois, American Association of Retired Persons and the Streator Sportsmen's Club.
