Mary Ann Matas (1901 - 1993)

STREATOR - Mary Ann Matas, 91, formerly of 1306 Dalton St., Streator, died at 4 a.m. yesterday (March 17, 1993) at Camelot Manor Nursing Home, Streator, where she resided.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Church, Streator, the Rev. Peter Bolerasky officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Streator.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Solon Funeral Home, Streator, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Matas was born Aug. 17, 1901, in Czechoslovakia, a daughter of John and Mary Majercin.
She married John Matas in Streator. He died in 1970.
Surviving are three daughters, Helen Lemler, Kangley; Marie McCumsey, Streator; and Ann Yanko, Ottawa; one son, Albert, Streator; one sister, Margaret Gaydos, Streator; two brothers, Frank and Rudy Majercin, both of Streator; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by one son, one infant daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Matas, a resident of Streator since her childhood, was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Streator, and its St. Ann's Society.
